Lesson: An Indian-American Woman in Space: Kalpana Chawla
Theme: Women in Space Exploration
Submitted by:
Introduction
The lesson tells us about Kalpana Chawla, the first
Indian-American woman astronaut. She showed courage, determination, and love
for science. This project highlights women astronauts like Valentina
Tereshkova, Sunita Williams, and Sally Ride, who proved that women can achieve
great success in space exploration.
Data Collection
I read the lesson carefully, discussed it with my teacher
and classmates, and collected pictures of astronauts. I also watched videos
about Kalpana Chawla, Sunita Williams, and Valentina Tereshkova to know more
about their achievements.
Assumptions
I assume that courage and determination always lead to
success. If society does not give equal opportunities to women, progress will
be slow. People get inspired by achievers like Kalpana Chawla.
Hypothesis
If women are encouraged and given equal opportunities, they
can succeed in any field, including science and space. If discrimination
continues, talent will be wasted.
Analysis
Women astronauts proved their talent in space missions. They
inspired the world to dream big. Kalpana Chawla’s success shows that women are
as capable as men.
Report
From this project, I found that courage, equality, and hard
work always bring success. Women astronauts inspire both men and women to
achieve greatness.
Conclusion
Women’s courage is stronger than gender bias. Equal
opportunities lead to progress. Kalpana Chawla’s life proves that dreams become
reality through confidence and determination.
Reflection
I learnt that courage, equality, and hard work bring
success, while discrimination destroys talent. Kalpana Chawla inspires me to
dream high and work with confidence.

Lesson: The Ashes That Made Trees Bloom – Author: William Elliot
Griffis
Theme: Folk Tales with a Moral
Submitted by:
Introduction
This lesson shows the value of kindness and
compassion through the story of an old couple and their dog. The kind couple
were rewarded for their goodness, while their greedy neighbours were punished
for cruelty. The story proves that kindness brings happiness, but greed leads
to suffering. Folk tales like this guide people towards good behaviour and
moral living.
Data Collection
I read the lesson carefully and discussed it with my
teacher and classmates. I also collected 2–3 folk tales from India and Japan
that teach morals like kindness, honesty, and hard work. These comparisons
helped me understand how folk tales across cultures carry moral lessons for
society.
Assumptions
I assume that kindness and honesty always bring
respect and joy, while greed and selfishness result in punishment and loss.
People value compassion more than cruelty.
Hypothesis
If people follow kindness and honesty, they will
have peace and progress. If they follow greed, they will face loss and
suffering. If families and schools teach values, children will grow into good
citizens.
Analysis
The story clearly shows that kindness leads to
blessings, while greed brings trouble. The kind couple gained rewards, but the
greedy neighbours lost everything.
Report / Findings
From this project, I found that folk tales teach
strong moral lessons in simple ways. Kindness creates peace, while greed
destroys life.
Conclusion
Kindness is greater than greed. Happiness depends on
values, not wealth. Folk tales remind us to respect others and live with
honesty and compassion.
Reflection
I learnt that simple values like love, care,
honesty, and respect are stronger than money. Folk tales are not just old
stories but real guides for living a meaningful life.

Lesson: Bepin Choudhury’s Lapse of Memory – Author: Satyajit
Ray
Theme: The Role of Friends in Our Lives
Submitted by:
Introduction
The lesson highlights the importance of friendship and how
it influences life. It tells the story of Bepin Choudhury, who is tricked by
his old friend Chunilal. The story shows that friendship should be based on
honesty, care, and respect. While good friends bring happiness and support,
harmful mischief can cause pain and confusion.
Data Collection
I read the lesson carefully, discussed it with my classmates
and teacher, and collected their views on friendship. I also read short stories
and articles about friends helping each other and cases where careless mischief
caused problems. These examples helped me understand that friendship is
valuable but must be respectful.
Assumptions
I assume that true friendship is built on loyalty, support,
and trust. Hurtful mischief and betrayal only bring sadness and spoil
relationships.
Hypothesis
If friendship is based on trust and honesty, it gives joy
and strength. If it is misused with cruelty or harmful jokes, it breaks trust
and causes pain.
Analysis
The story proves that friendship can either support life or
cause trouble. Chunilal’s trick created stress for Bepin Choudhury, showing
that mischief without care can harm deeply.
Report / Findings
I found that friendship brings courage and joy, but selfish
mischief destroys peace. True friends are remembered for honesty and loyalty,
not tricks.
Conclusion
Friendship is more valuable than mischief. Friends should
respect and support one another. Trust and honesty are the pillars of real
friendship.
Reflection
I learnt that friendship is a great treasure in life.
Mischief may be fun but should never hurt anyone. True friends give strength,
peace, and lifelong happiness.

Lesson: A Truly Beautiful Mind – Author: Sylvia Hayden
Theme: The Human Side of a Scientist
Submitted by:
Introduction
This lesson tells us about Albert Einstein, remembered not
only as a great scientist but also as a great human being. His life shows that
true greatness comes not only from intelligence but also from values like
simplicity, honesty, justice, and humanity.
Data Collection
I read the lesson carefully and discussed it with my teacher
and classmates. I also referred to articles and short notes on Einstein’s life,
which highlighted his contributions to science and his efforts for peace and
equality. These resources helped me compare his scientific genius with his
simple and humble personality.
Assumptions
I assume that humility and humanity bring respect and peace,
while pride and arrogance lead to conflict. People value kindness and honesty
more than power or pride.
Hypothesis
If science is guided by values, it will help humanity. If
knowledge is used without justice and humility, it may cause destruction. If
people follow honesty and humanity, society will progress with peace.
Analysis
The story shows that Einstein never misused his intelligence
for pride or arrogance. Instead, he stood for peace, equality, and justice. His
character proves that knowledge without values is incomplete.
Report / Findings
I found that true greatness lies in combining wisdom with
kindness. Einstein’s life teaches us that science and values must go together
to bring happiness and peace to the world.
Conclusion
This project proves that humanity is greater than pride.
True greatness comes not only from intelligence but also from values like
honesty, justice, and humility.
Reflection
I learnt that knowledge without values can be dangerous.
Einstein’s life inspired me to believe that real success lies in joining
intelligence with humanity and using it for the good of society.

Lesson: A Baker from Goa – Author: Lucio Rodrigues
Theme: Festivals and Celebrations – The Role of Special Foods
Submitted by:
Introduction
This lesson shows the importance of the baker in Goan
society. Bread was not just food but a cultural symbol linked with marriages,
festivals, and celebrations. The story highlights how traditions and food bring
people together and connect generations.
Data Collection
I read the lesson carefully and discussed with classmates
how food plays a role in our family festivals. I also collected articles and
pictures about Goan bread and other festival foods. By comparing Goan
traditions with food customs in my culture, I understood that food is an
important part of festivals everywhere.
Assumptions
I assume that food and traditions create unity and joy,
while ignoring customs weakens culture and identity. People value traditions
because they preserve history and pass values to the next generation.
Hypothesis
If traditions are respected, they bring joy, unity, and
pride. If neglected, society may lose its values and culture. If food continues
to be part of festivals, people will remain united and happy.
Analysis
The story shows that Goan bread was essential in every
celebration. Bakers were respected because they preserved tradition. Neglecting
such customs can cause cultural loss, while respecting them strengthens unity.
Report / Findings
I found that food and traditions bring happiness and
bonding. Neglect of customs leads to emptiness, but respecting them creates
cultural pride and strong family ties.
Conclusion
This project proves that food is not just for eating but
also a part of culture and tradition. Festivals become joyful when customs are
respected.
Reflection
I learnt that traditions give unity and identity, while
neglect destroys culture. The baker’s story taught me that food makes festivals
meaningful and keeps values alive.
